what's up?

night before

1930 ford truck

been baking all day. now waiting for some taffy to cool enough to pull it, but i'll still get a first degree burn on my hands. better half says he'll help pull the stuff.

this stuff is all for people for whom i had no ideas on what gift to give, save for some of their favorite sweets. sad, but better than nothing. and i have no xmas spirit anyway, just going with the flow.

i don't have too many pictures of cars decorated for the holidays, though i know i saw more than a few. i think i mostly passed them by. none of them made me go wow.

so this old truck will have to do, with it's bit of tinsel and swag. i'll break my own rule about shooting cars with company advertising on them, but here's an exception. it's a nice truck.

a family

i was minding my own business, walking through the park at point fermin, looking for something interesting to shoot. cars were moving in by this point, and being directed left or right when they reached the lighthouse.

queue the random guy to come over and tell me to take pictures of his family's cars. all of them together, then individually. like i'm there taking orders. sure, i'll take them, gave me something to do. kinda doubt he'll buy prints; most guys like that just don't.

i could be totally wrong, but that's just how it came across.

nice set of chevys, then he said the ford at the end was also part of the group. they had that pop up over the truck, until the guy told the other guys to move it back. didn't ask what was so special about that one in particular.

anyway, did as i was told/asked, and got on with my life.

1930 ford hot rod

1930 ford hot rod

let's hear it for the time change...pfft. i'm going to miss that extra hour of sleep.

busy week ahead, probably won't be posting until sunday, if i'm lucky. so i'll leave you with this guilded beast. a total look at me, look at me car, so i looked at it, looked at it.

i really just liked the pinstripe picture on the back, but am including the front and back views, for those who always ask. it was a really different take on a hot rod. the running boards probably aren't that useful.

the owner offered to let me shoot the inside, but nah, that's for someone else to have fun with. i'm busy judging the book by the cover.

pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?

1930 pierce arrow

also from the ruby's halloween show, this group of upper crust cars were clustered toward the front near the prize tables. don't think they usually drive these pampered puppies out and about on a daily basis, but it would be fun to go for a ride in one.

i've never seen a pierce arrow anywhere except in a museum or on film. of course the first shots i did of it were of the hood ornament; shooting the car itself was just an afterthought, since i didn't have one in my collection of shots.

my regrets to the owner of the yellow essex; i went back later to take a picture of your car, but you had already gone. but here's your hood ornament.
